2 puzzling questions

I have 2 questions that have bothered me for a while. The first one is about my son. He was married 5 years ago in a civil ceremony,no clergy officiating. After about a year and a half he filed for divorce which was granted. Was his marriage recognized by the Church and would he have to get an annulment if he wishes to remarry in the Church?
The second question is, during our Mass, when our priest elevates the Chalice during the Consecration he uses the words "....of the New and Everlasting Covenant, which will be shed for the many for the forgiveness of sins." Isn't is supposed to be the word all instead of many, and if so is the consecration valid?
